What is the Special Needs Registry?
The Bayonne Police Department has implemented a Special Needs Registry, a voluntary program designed to help us better serve and protect members of our community with special needs. This registry provides a secure and confidential way for residents to share important information about their loved ones who may have communication challenges, medical conditions, or behavioral patterns that could affect interactions with first responders.
Our Purpose
Our goal is to foster understanding and build trust between law enforcement and individuals with special needs. By having access to crucial information in advance, our officers can be better prepared to respond appropriately and effectively in various situations, ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone involved. This proactive approach can help de-escalate potentially stressful encounters and provide a more supportive and understanding response.
